Sudbury 2.0 Project

Rathbun Footwall Structure

The Rathbun Property is a 7.1 sq km claim package with a high-grade palladium, platinum, copper, nickel and gold showing. The property was patented in 1889 and mined in the 1890’s with a 45-foot deep shaft and 35 feet of drifting. The property has had various exploration programs since 1954 until the early 2000’s.

Research of the high-grade showing in 2019 has indicated that the mineralization is related to a Sudbury offset dyke that had not previously been recognized. Since this discovery the property has lain dormant until Inventus acquired it in January of 2021. . Sampling of the semi-massive sulfide mineralization around the shaft by Inventus returned values up to 22.8% copper, 74.4 g/t palladium, 18.4 g/t platinum, 13.3 g/t gold and 0.5% nickel.

A 2021 exploration program is currently underway on the property to find the extension of the Sudbury offset dyke and its associated high-grade mineralization.

Rathbun Research Paper

We report on a new discovery of such heavily mineralized offset dike at Rathbun Lake, about 15 km east of the currently known extent of the Sudbury Igneous Complex. Our finding of magmatic PGE-base metal sulfide at Rathbun Lake suggests a new subtype of distal offset dike-hosted mineralization in an area so far not known for offset dikes.
